HTR PRINCIPAL
Dr. Michael S. Hamby has spent 32 years in the textile industry, beginning with his graduation in 1969 from North Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Textile Technology. After becoming the owner of Hamby Textile Research Laboratories in 1986, he earned his degree of Doctor of Business Philosophy. Prior to purchasing his own business, he worked for 18 years with Collins & Aikman Corporation, culminating his career in the Yarn Division as Vice President of Sales and Marketing. This position at Collins & Aikman included responsibilities for new product development, technical services, research in yarn properties and performance as well as development of marketing plans and strategies.
He served as president of the Chicago Yarn Men's Club, a member of the National Wool Council, National Knitted Outerwear Association, American Yarn Spinners, North Carolina Textile Manufacturers Association, American Textile Manufacturers Institute, National Association of Hosiery Manufacturers and the National Thread Institute.
Dr. Hamby has the analytical skills of a research engineer, the management savvy of a seasoned executive, the temperament of a diplomat as well as a thorough understanding of the textile industry.
