PROCESSING AND TESTING - Click here for an Equipment Listing

HTR is comprised of several processing and testing laboratories. The purpose of HTR in the marketplace is three fold. In the first case, HTR works with research associates to determine if they have produced a product that is processible on conventional textile machinery. Secondly, HTR works with engineers to improve currently produced products for such items as static, finish levels and types, finish build-up, processing speeds and quality. Thirdly, HTR works hand-in-hand with technical service engineers to solve mill-processing problems. In all these areas, HTR is the vital link to success.

HTR accomplishes the above processing needs with several independent processing laboratories. Each room and lab within the building is independently heated/air conditioned and humidity controlled. The major lab areas are: Short Staple Yarn Processing, Carpet Yarn and Tufting, Fabric Forming, Dying and Finishing, Texturing and Physical Testing. There is a list of lab equipment and photos of each lab in this web site. Please take time to review these items.

The Staple Lab can produce yarn from a 100% blend to intimate blends or draw frame blended sliver into finished yarn spun on ring spinning, open-end spinning, dref spinning or air jet spinning. We process a wide range of deniers and staple lengths and as well as natural and synthetic fibers. Lot sizes typically run from 25 pounds to 1,000 pounds.

The Carpet Lab is set up to produce a 30 inch wide finished, dyed, double backed and sheared 15 yard carpet from staple or BCF. We are best known for our creel mapping which allows one to evaluate yarns side by side in the same carpet. HTR has run all synthetic and natural carpet yarns. We have a clicker and edging binder to produce a finished sample to present to your customers or to the industry.

In the Fabric Forming Lab HTR can produce circular jersey as well as double knit fabrics. We also have the ability to produce a slashed, warped and woven fabric from one cone of yarn. Fabrics can be woven on a cam loom and a rapier loom.

HTR'S Dye Lab has atmospheric and pressure vessels. There is a two-package dyer and a jet dyer used for textured yarn sleeves. We also have an autoclave and H&W conditioner located in the wet lab area.

The HTR Texturing Lab is comprised of several older, slower-speed machines used for new polymer research and new high-speed machines for finish and production trials. One machine is equipped with air jets.

To analyze the results of our tests, HTR is equipped with a well trained and well equipped Physical Testing Lab to supply the data from start to finish. Yarn quality to finished fabric pilling data can be generated in the PT Lab. Color Eye tests to fabric analysis are all performed on a daily basis. Testing is only as good as the quality of the data.
